Bangkok: “Tid Alongkot-Dr. B” are in jail after the court denied bail due to the high penalty and the high value of property damage.
According to Thai News Agency, investigators from Division 5 of the Crime Suppression Division filed a petition with the Central Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct. They requested the first detention of Phra Ratchawisutthiprachanat, also known as Mr. Alongkot Phulmuk, the first accused, and Mr. Seksan Traipsuebsakul, the second accused.
The charges against Mr. Phulmuk include misappropriating property for oneself or another person through corruption, neglecting official duties improperly to cause damage, money laundering, and colluding with others to commit money laundering. Meanwhile, Mr. Traipsuebsakul is accused of being an accomplice in these offenses and also faces charges of money laundering.
The court granted a 12-day detention order from August 27th to September 7th. While the first accused did not request temporary release, the second accused did. However, the court denied this request, citing concerns about the potential for fleeing, tampering with evidence, and impeding the investigation. The high penalty and asset value of the offense were also factors in the decision to deny bail.
