Crime Suppression Division Intensifies Investigation Into Dr. B and Temple Fraud Case

Bangkok: The Crime Suppression Division (CSD) has convened a critical meeting to address the ongoing investigation involving Dr. B and the temple Wat Phra Bat Nam Phu, amid allegations of fraud against the public. The Deputy Commander of the CSD emphasized that their focus remains solely on cases linked to Dr. B and the temple, particularly concerning the alleged misappropriation of donation funds intended for temple activities. A comprehensive investigative team has been tasked with expanding the inquiry to uncover the truth and inform the public.

According to Thai News Agency, at 1:00 PM today, Police Major General Wittaya Sriprasertphap, Commander of the CSD, assembled the investigative team to discuss the accusations against Dr. B regarding the mismanagement of a donation account meant for the temple. The lengthy meeting concluded with an interview by Police Colonel Anek Taosuphap, the Deputy Commander of the CSD, who shed light on the investigation’s progress.

Police Colonel Anek disclosed that the meeting aimed to coordinate efforts among various units to ensure a thorough investigation. Initial findings have unveiled significant evidence suggesting fraudulent activities by Dr. B. The CSD has resolved to proceed with the investigation without waiting for a formal complaint from Wat Phra Bat Nam Phu, given the public interest and implications of the case. The investigation has also indicated possible crimes against the state, specifically fraud.

When questioned about potential actions against Dr. B and Wat Phra Bat Nam Phu, the Deputy Commander confirmed that the CSD is solely handling these cases. However, due to substantial media and public interest, the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) decided to expand the investigation. This expansion aims to include all involved parties and ensure public trust. The investigation is being conducted in collaboration with agencies such as the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC). The specifics of the investigation, such as the 2,000 rai of land held by the Thammarak Foundation, remain under scrutiny.

Witnesses who donated through Dr. B’s account have been called for questioning to gather evidence. The account, active from 2019 to 2025, is under investigation to trace the origins of funds and assets potentially linked to the temple. Concerns about asset transfers during the investigation were addressed by Police Colonel Anek, who assured that any such transfers would leave detectable financial trails, implicating dishonesty. Evidence of fraud and potential embezzlement related to state officials has emerged, with money laundering charges looming for those receiving assets.

Police Colonel Anek warned that individuals holding temple assets without returning them could face money laundering charges. He stressed the importance of sincerity and cautioned against indifference, which could indicate dishonest intentions. The generosity of donors must be honored, with funds directed towards their intended causes.

After the meeting, Dr. B, described as a spirit medium, arrived at the CSD with his team. Despite reporters’ attempts to engage him, Dr. B refrained from commenting. A team member stated that additional documents were submitted to authorities for investigation. Police Colonel Anek confirmed that Dr. B was summoned to provide financial documentation, and while the investigators have reviewed his statements, their veracity remains at the discretion of the police.
