Criminologists Urge “Boss Paul” to Undergo Lie Detector Test in Icon Group Case

BANGKOK: Criminologists have suggested that “Boss Paul,” a key figure in the controversy surrounding The Icon Group, should take a lie detector test to further prove his innocence amidst claims against the business by several victims.

According to Thai News Agency, Assoc. Prof. Pol. Lt. Col. Dr. Kritsanapong Pootrakool from Rangsit University, stated that although “Boss Paul” has appeared on TV and promised compensation to victims, taking a lie detector test would provide a more substantial proof of his non-involvement in the wrongful actions linked to The Icon Group. The test, which measures physiological responses like heart rate, breathing rate, and skin conductivity, could serve as additional evidence since such tests are recognized in forensic processes abroad and can influence court decisions in Thailand, albeit not heavily.

The call for a lie detector test comes after discrepancies were noted in “Boss Paul’s” appearances on various TV programs, where his demeanor and responses varied notably. Dr. Poo
trakool pointed out that in one interview on “Hone Krasae,” “Boss Paul” seemed under pressure, often repeating questions to stall for time, contrasting with his more assured responses in another program. This has raised questions about the consistency and truthfulness of his public statements.

If “Boss Paul” opts not to take the test, it remains the responsibility of the investigative authorities to assess the truthfulness of his statements during these interviews and pursue further inquiries based on the findings.
