Dambai: Mr Safo Nketia, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Krachi East Municipality of the Oti Region, has announced plans to transform Dambai township. The Dambai bridge will connect Abongo and Dream Village, while a new fish market will be established behind Dream Village to boost trade and social ties.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Nketia mentioned that a military barracks would be located on the Monkrati route, which would help open up both East and West sides of Dambai. He stated that these projects aim to encourage development, attract investment, and transform Dambai into a hub for growth, impacting the Oti Regional capital positively.
The MCE explained that the bridge project is a component of the government's $10 billion Big Push Agenda, intended to boost economic growth and improve regional access. During an interview with GNA, he shared that engineers and contractors initially considered two routes: the main route down to the pontoon landing site and an alternative route along Dambai Community-One through the late Francis Kofi Okesu's street.
He elaborated that the alternative route was selected to avoid demolishing existing structures and relocating ferry and boat operators, ultimately reducing costs. The decision was made based on findings from contractors and engineers, prioritizing a smoother and more cost-effective implementation.
