DDPM reports flood situation in 8 provinces, urgent assistance


DDPM reports flooding in 8 provinces, urgently mobilizing all forces to provide assistance, alleviate people’s suffering, and restore areas that have eased.

The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) reported that between 16 August and 22 September 2024, flooding occurred in 32 provinces: Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Mae Hong Son, Tak, Phayao, Nan, Lamphun, Lampang, Phrae, Uttaradit, Sukhothai, Phitsanulok, Nakhon Sawan, Phetchabun, Loei, Udon Thani, Nong Khai, Nakhon Phanom, Bueng Kan, Nong Bua Lamphu, Prachin Buri, Ang Thong, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Pathum Thani, Rayong, Chumphon, Phuket, Yala, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phang Nga, Trang, and Satun, covering 172 districts, 753 sub-districts, and 3,962 villages. 158,066 households were affected, with a total of 46 deaths and 24 injuries. Currently, flooding is still occurring in 8 provinces: Chiang Rai, Lampang, Tak, Phitsanulok, Nong Khai, Nakhon Phanom, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya. and Pathum Thani, including 25 affected districts, 121 sub-districts
, 565 villages, 16,960 affected households, details as follows:

1) Chiang Rai: Flooding occurred in 2 districts: Mae Sai and Mueang, including 4 sub-districts, 26 villages, affecting 1,268 households. Water levels have decreased.

2) Lampang: Flooding occurred in 3 districts: Ngao, Mueang, and Hang Chat, covering 5 sub-districts and 16 villages. Water levels have decreased.

3) Tak: Flooding occurred in Sam Ngao District, including 1 sub-district and 1 village. 25 households were affected. Water levels have decreased.

4) Phitsanulok: Flooding occurred in 3 districts: Phrom Phiram, Bang Rakam, and Mueang, covering 7 sub-districts and 15 villages. 576 households were affected. Water levels are stable.

5) Nong Khai: Flooding occurred in 6 districts: Sangkhom District, Sri Chiang Mai District, Tha Bo District, Mueang District, Rattanawapi District, and Phon Phisai District, totaling 27 sub-districts, 151 villages, affecting 7,132 households. Water levels have decreased.

6) Nakhon Phanom: Flooding occurred in
3 districts: Tha Uthen, Si Songkhram, and Mueang, totaling 8 sub-districts and 53 villages, affecting 250 households. Water levels have decreased.

7) Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya: Flooding occurred in 6 districts: Bang Ban, Phak Hai, Sena, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Bang Pa-in, and Bang Sai, totaling 67 sub-districts, 301 villages, affecting 7,702 households. Water levels are stable.

8) Pathum Thani: Flooding occurred in Muang District, including 2 sub-districts and 2 villages. 7 households were affected. Water levels have decreased.

The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has mobilized all operational personnel and disaster machinery, such as the KA-32 disaster prevention and mitigation helicopter, long-range water pumps, water pumps, disaster relief vehicles, rapid rescue vehicles, drinking water production vehicles, 200 KVA electric lighting vehicles, small trucks, rapid boat towing vehicles, flat-bottomed boats, and water rescue equipment from the disaster prevention and mitigation cente
rs in the area, nearby areas, and disaster prevention and mitigation centers in other regions without disaster situations to join the operation to provide assistance and relieve the suffering of people in disaster areas, including helping restore roads and houses in areas where the situation has improved so that people can return to their normal lives as soon as possible.
