DDPM reveals progress in helping flood victims in 2024


The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation revealed the progress of providing assistance to flood victims during the rainy season of 2024 according to the Cabinet resolution. Information has been sent to 10,987 households of the Government Savings Bank, with a successful transfer of over 43,987,000 million baht.

Today (5 Oct 2024), the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) revealed progress in providing assistance to flood victims during the rainy season of 2024 in accordance with the Cabinet resolution. The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation has sent information on 10,987 households to the Government Savings Bank, and the Government Savings Bank has successfully transferred money into the accounts of 8,787 households, totaling more than 43,987,000 baht.

Mr. Chaiwat Junthiraphong, Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, revealed that the Cabinet has approved the criteria, conditions, and methods for disbursing aid to flood victims
during the rainy season of 2024 and has assigned the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation to be the budget recipient and disbursement unit for disaster victims. The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation has been working closely with the affected provinces to expedite the process so that people receive assistance as soon as possible.

According to the latest information on 4 October 2024 at 4:30 p.m., there were more requests for financial assistance in 52 provinces, totaling 84,224 households. The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation has submitted verified and confirmed information from the provinces to the Government Savings Bank 5 times, totaling 10,978 households, totaling 54,944,000 baht. The Government Savings Bank has successfully transferred money into the accounts of the victims 4 times (on 27, 30 September 2024 and 2 and 4 October 2024), totaling 8,787 households, totaling 43,987,000 baht. The fifth financial assistance transfer will be made by 8 October 2024.
