Decha Isara Asserts Democrat Party MPs Stand United Amid Speculation

Bangkok: “Decha Isara” has firmly stated that all Democrat Party Members of Parliament (MPs) are committed to staying with the party and have no plans to leave. This assertion follows concerns about the party’s stability and potential defections.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Decha Isara Khaothong, who serves as both the Deputy Minister of the Interior and Secretary-General of the Democrat Party, confirmed that he and 21 Democrat MPs recently met with Mr. Chalermchai Sri-on, the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment and leader of the Democrat Party. The meeting, which took place at Mr. Chalermchai’s residence, was described as a gathering to address rumors of MPs leaving the party. Mr. Decha Isara emphasized the importance of transparency and openness, inviting any MP considering leaving to communicate their intentions. However, he assured that all attendees unanimously expressed their desire to remain with the Democrat Party, seeking confirmation from him as the party’s secretary-general.

Mr. Decha Isara reiterated his unwavering loyalty to the Democrat Party, asserting that he is not planning to leave. He also mentioned that Mr. Chalermchai and Mr. Chaichana Dechacho had made clear declarations about their leadership within the party. Furthermore, he expressed confidence that all current members would stay with the Democrat Party until the next election. To strengthen party unity, regular monthly meetings have been proposed to provide a platform for open dialogue among members.

Addressing his earlier comments about gaining additional MPs, Mr. Decha Isara assured that there would be new additions to the party at a suitable time, which would include current MPs.

Mr. Decha Isara also responded to questions about Chaichana Dechacho’s commitment to the party. He stated that Chaichana had given a firm assurance of his intention to remain with the Democrat Party.

Regarding speculations about Mr. Sanphet Bunyamanee, the Democrat MP for Songkhla, possibly joining the Blue Party, Mr. Decha Isara clarified that while there were rumors, Mr. Sanphet had personally communicated his commitment to staying with the Democrat Party and Prime Minister Chai.

In response to inquiries about a potential rally by Buriram residents seeking justice in the Khao Kradong case, Mr. Decha Isara indicated that he was not yet informed of any plans. He stated that his responsibilities in the matter were complete, with the Director-General of the Land Department now responsible for signing the revocation.

Finally, Mr. Decha Isara addressed concerns that these developments might be perceived as an act of aggression towards opposing factions. He dismissed such notions, highlighting his focus on fulfilling his duties without engaging in conflict, acknowledging the significant imbalance in power.
