Department of Internal Trade and Gourmet Market Join Forces to Support Thai Farmers

Bangkok: The Department of Internal Trade, in collaboration with Gourmet Market, has launched the “DIT X Gourmet Market Farmers Grow Together” event, aimed at encouraging the purchase of quality products to support Thai farmers and address issues of oversupply. This event will run until September 29 at the Paragon Department Store.

According to Thai News Agency, the Department of Internal Trade, a part of the Ministry of Commerce, is teaming up with Gourmet Market, managed by The Mall Group, to provide a platform that supports small entrepreneurs and helps Thai farmers sell their products directly to consumers. Mr. Witthayakorn Maneenet, Director-General of the Department of Internal Trade, highlighted that the initiative aims to bring high-quality products from various regions to market, ensuring farmers can sell them long-term. The event also targets both Thai and foreign consumers, including the Digital Norm group, to create wider exposure for these products.

The collaboration addresses the seasonal oversupply of fruits, such as longans from Chanthaburi, traditionally meant for export but now being made available domestically. Ms. Ploychompoo Ampuch, Managing Director of Supermarket Merchandising at The Mall Group Co., Ltd., noted that offering products at special prices would increase access for both Thai consumers and international tourists, thereby creating jobs and boosting income for entrepreneurs and communities.

Highlight products at the event include award-winning jasmine rice varieties and a selection of fresh and processed fruits, such as authentic fragrant coconuts and Phulae pineapples. The event also features quality beef from various community enterprises and a range of handicrafts and OTOP products available at special prices.

The “DIT X Gourmet Market Farmers Grow Together” event is a significant initiative to support Thai farmers and ensure sustainable growth by promoting their high-quality products. The event is held at the Gourmet Market, G Floor, Paragon Department Store, and runs until September 29, 2025.
