“Deputy Secretary to the Prime Minister” announced the Cabinet’s orders to help people affected by floods, approved the central emergency budget to repair and improve irrigation canals, totaling 2,289 million baht, and approved the central budget to repair roads, totaling more than 3,017 million baht.


Mr. Suksit Srichomkhwan:eneral to the Prime Minister for Political Affairs, announced the order of Mr. Phumtham Vejjayachai, Deputy Prime Minister acting on behalf of the Prime Minister, in the Cabinet meeting, urging relevant agencies to urgently survey the area to inspect the damage and urgently implement measures to help people affected by the flood, including urgently repairing government agencies to ensure continuous public services, including having relevant agencies prepare a recovery plan to help people return to work and prepare a plan for preventive measures for future disasters.

Mr. Suksit said that in addition, the Cabinet also approved the central emergency budget of 2,289 million baht for the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives through the Royal Irrigation Department to be used in developing water sources, totaling 1,072 projects, after being affected by storms and flash floods, causing damage to the Royal Irrigation Department’s buildings and water currents to erode, affecting water drain
age, and sediment carried by the water currents, including branches and materials blocking watercourses, water canals, and water transport routes. Therefore, it is necessary for the Royal Irrigation Department to propose a budget to repair and improve them and to prepare for future water management.

The Cabinet also approved the allocation of the central emergency budget to the Ministry of Transport, amounting to 3,017 million baht, to the Ministry of Transport to restore the infrastructure damaged by floods and disasters, resulting in damage to many transportation routes. The Department of Rural Roads and the Department of National Highways will use it to improve the infrastructure. The Department of Highways has 207 items in 26 provinces, the Department of Rural Roads has 101 items, amounting to 1,667 million baht in 30 provinces, which is considered urgent. The Cabinet therefore approved the central budget to implement the project to allow the public to use an efficient transportation system.
