Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department reports flooding in 20 provinces – mobilizing all forces to provide assistance


The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation reported flooding in 20 provinces. They are urgently mobilizing all forces to provide assistance to alleviate the suffering of the people and restore areas that have been resolved to return to normal as soon as possible.

At 10:30 a.m., the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation reported flooding in 20 provinces: Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Phayao, Mae Hong Son, Lamphun, Lampang, Tak, Phitsanulok, Phetchabun, Sukhothai, Loei, Udon Thani, Kalasin, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Maha Sarakham, Ubon Ratchathani, Ang Thong, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, and Nakhon Si Thammarat, totaling 66 districts, 305 sub-districts, 1,486 villages, and 33,475 affected households. Officials and disaster relief machinery were dispatched to drain water from the area, provide assistance, and alleviate the suffering of affected people, as well as continuously and fully restore areas where the situation has improved to return to normal.

The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitiga
tion (DDPM) reported that between 16 August and 5 October 2024, flooding occurred in 38 provinces: Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Mae Hong Son, Tak, Phayao, Nan, Lamphun, Lampang, Phrae, Uttaradit, Sukhothai, Phitsanulok, Nakhon Sawan, Phetchabun, Loei, Udon Thani, Kalasin, Nong Khai, Nakhon Phanom, Khon Kaen, Chaiyaphum, Maha Sarakham, Bueng Kan, Nong Bua Lamphu, Ubon Ratchathani, Prachin Buri, Ang Thong, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Pathum Thani, Rayong, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Phuket, Yala, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phang Nga, Trang and Satun. A total of 240 districts, 1,046 sub-districts, 5,643 villages, 200,062 households were affected, with a total of 49 deaths and 28 injuries. Flooding is still occurring in 20 provinces, including Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Phayao, Mae Hong Son, Lamphun, Lampang, Tak, Phitsanulok, Phetchabun, Sukhothai, Loei, Udon Thani, Kalasin, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Maha Sarakham, Ubon Ratchathani, Ang Thong, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya and Nakhon Si Thammarat, total affected areas: 66 districts, 305 sub
-districts, 1,486 villages, 33,475 households affected.

North: 10 provinces, 38 districts, 131 sub-districts, 575 villages, 10,405 affected households.

1) Chiang Rai: Flooding in 5 districts: Mae Sai, Mueang, Mae Lao, Wiang Pa Pao and Wiang Chai, 11 sub-districts, 42 villages, 220 affected households, water levels receding.

2) Chiang Mai: Flooding in 7 districts: Mae Rim, Doi Lor, Hang Dong, San Pa Tong, Mae Taeng, Mueang and Saraphi, 34 sub-districts, 183 villages, 96 affected households, water levels rising.

3) Phayao: Flooding in Mae Chai District, 2 sub-districts, 4 villages, water levels receding.

4) Mae Hong Son: Flooding in Mueang District, 1 sub-district, 1 village, water levels receding.

5) Lamphun: Flooding in 3 districts: Mueang, Mae Tha and Pa Sang, 16 sub-districts, 123 villages. 3,875 households affected, water levels rising

6) Lampang: Flooding occurred in 3 districts: Chae Hom, Ngao and Mae Prik, 7 sub-districts, 7 villages, 21 households were affected, and the water level has receded.

) Tak: Flooding occurred in 5 districts: Sam Ngao, Ban Tak, Mae Sot, Phop Phra and Umphang, 12 sub-districts, 52 villages, 2,389 households were affected, and the water level has receded.

8) Phitsanulok: Flooding occurred in 7 districts: Phrom Phiram, Bang Rakam, Mueang, Bang Krathum, Wang Thong, Nakhon Thai and Wat Bot, 27 sub-districts, 104 villages, 1,749 households were affected, and the water level has risen.

9) Phetchabun: Flooding occurred in 3 districts: Nam Nao, Mueang and Nong Phai, 6 sub-districts, 8 villages, 115 households were affected, and the water level has receded.

10) Sukhothai: Flooding occurred in 3 districts: Sawankhalok, Sri Samrong District and Mueang District, totaling 15 sub-districts, 51 villages, 1,940 households affected, water levels have decreased.

Northeastern region, including 7 provinces, 17 districts, 69 sub-districts, 357 villages, 1,595 affected households.

1) Loei, flooding occurred in 4 districts: Phu Kradueng, Wang Saphung, Phu Ruea and Mueang, including 10 sub-dis
tricts, 56 villages, 701 affected households, water levels rising.

2) Udon Thani, flooding occurred in 2 districts: Mueang and Sang Khom, including 8 sub-districts, 41 villages, 428 affected households, water levels receding.

3) Kalasin, flooding occurred in 2 districts: Yang Talat and Nong Krung Si, including 4 sub-districts, 4 villages, 32 affected households, water levels stable.

4) Chaiyaphum, flooding occurred in 2 districts: Khon Sawan and Chatturat, including 12 sub-districts, 45 villages, 71 affected households, water levels stable.

5) Khon Kaen, flooding occurred in Phu Pha Man district, including 1 sub-district, 2 villages, water levels receding.

6) Maha Sarakham: Flooding occurred in 4 districts: Mueang District, Kantharawichai District, Kosum Phisai District, and Chiang Yuen District, totaling 29 sub-districts, 199 villages, 90 households were affected, water levels were stable. 7

) Ubon Ratchathani: Flooding occurred in 2 districts: Mueang District and Sawang Wirawong District, totaling 5 s
ub-districts, 10 villages, 273 households were affected, water levels were rising.

Central region: 2 provinces, 10 districts, 104 sub-districts, 554 villages, 21,459 households affected.

1) Ang Thong: flooding in 3 districts: Wiset Chai Chan, Chaiyo and Mueang; 9 sub-districts, 19 villages, 289 households affected; water levels rising.

2) Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya: flooding in 7 districts: Bang Ban, Phak Hai, Sena, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Bang Pa-in, Bang Sai and Bang Pa-han; 95 sub-districts, 534 villages, 21,140 households affected; water levels rising.

Southern region, including 1 province, 1 district, 1 sub-district, 1 village, 16 households affected.

1) Nakhon Si Thammarat, flooding occurred in Thung Song District, including 1 sub-district, 1 village, 16 households affected. Water levels have decreased.

The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation has mobilized all operational personnel and disaster machinery, such as the KA-32 disaster prevention and mitigation helicopter, long-range wate
r pumps, water pumps, disaster relief vehicles, rapid rescue vehicles, drinking water production vehicles, 200 KVA electric lighting vehicles, small trucks, rapid boat towing vehicles, flat-bottomed boats, and water rescue equipment to provide assistance and relieve the suffering of people in disaster-stricken areas. They have also deployed high-lift hydraulic excavators, multi-purpose wheel loaders, wheelbase-adjustable rescue wheel loaders, crawler trucks, dump trucks, and long-arm hydraulic excavators to quickly dig up and remove mud, debris, and debris, as well as level and level roads, travel routes, and restore roads and houses in areas where the situation has improved so that people can return to their normal lives as soon as possible.
