Dornukie Foundation Brings Christmas Cheer to Over 500 Widows in Ada Constituency

Accra: The Dornukie Foundation, a non-governmental organisation, has brought Christmas cheer to more than 500 widows and elderly persons across the Ada constituency as part of its annual festive outreach programme. Ms Dornukie Naa Norteye, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, led a team to visit beneficiaries in their homes to distribute items and offer words of encouragement.

According to Ghana News Agency, Ms Norteye, who was also the 2024 New Patriotic Party's (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for the area, presented Christmas hampers containing half pieces of cloth, bags of rice, tomato paste, tinned fish, and other essential household items. The gesture was aimed at spreading love, hope and relief to vulnerable members of the community during the festive season.

The outreach forms part of the foundation's annual Christmas activities and reflects its long-standing commitment to supporting widows, the aged, orphans and other vulnerable persons within the constituency. In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Ms Norteye said her late mother inspired the establishment of the foundation, which had remained impactful for over a decade.

She noted that the organisation had supported residents through educational assistance, business support, skills training and youth start-up initiatives. She encouraged residents to remain hopeful regardless of their circumstances and to engage the foundation for partnerships and support, disclosing that each electoral area in the Ada East District has a representative on the foundation.

She said plans were underway to organise a forum in the coming year to officially broaden access to its services. Ms Norteye extended a New Year message to the people of Ada, assuring them of improved living standards and stronger collaboration in the years ahead.
