Sa kaeo: Drones surveying the border area of Ban Nong Chan and Ban Nong Ya Kaeo found no unusual movement from the Cambodian side.
According to Thai News Agency, officials from the Burapha Task Force used drones to survey the border area of Ban Nong Chan and Nong Ya Kaeo in Sa Kaeo Province to assess the situation following yesterday’s commotion. The unrest was triggered by Mr. Wira Somkwamkit, president of the People’s Network Against Corruption and leader of the Thai People with Patriotic Hearts group, who led a crowd into the border fence at the disputed point in Ban Nong Chan. This incident prompted some Cambodians from the opposite side of Ban Nong Ya Kaeo to gather along the border to observe Thai movements. However, the situation did not escalate, and officials from both sides maintained control of the area.
Today, Burapha Task Force officials used drones to reconnoiter the area and found no Cambodian protesters. Only soldiers were stationed along the border. On the Thai side, rangers and local government officials are closely monitoring the situation. The situation along the Thai-Cambodian border in Khok Sung District remains calm and unchanged, but officials have intensified surveillance to prevent future provocations or a repeat of the incident.
