Police have identified two of the three people suspected of murdering a journalist in Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, on Tuesday (July 19, 2022).
A team of officers from the police precinct and the criminal detective unit of the East Jakarta Metropolitan Police is hunting down the two suspects, chief of the Kramat Jati Police Precinct, Commissioner Tuti Aini, informed in Jakarta on Monday.
“Two suspects have been identified. It’s now to chase and catch them,” Aini said.
Firdaus Parlindungan Pangaribuan, a 45-year-old journalist working for Raja Ampat Pos, was found dead on a sidewalk on Mayjen Sutoyo Street in East Jakarta at 5 a.m. local time on July 19 with several wounds.
Three people were believed to have attacked him.
Dewi Santi Pangaribuan, the younger sister of Pangaribuan, reported the case to the Kramat Jati Police Precinct. In her report, she said that three people were allegedly involved in the murder.
She said she believed that two of the three people, identified by their initials as A and O, were the main perpetrators. A is the father of O.
“He (A) did not likely know my older brother because he lived in Papua with his wife and three children. He returned to Jakarta only in January this year,” she informed.
The perpetrators reportedly did not flee immediately after the attack. Two of them escaped in the evening and are now at large, she added.
