The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has summoned the chiefs of the Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) of five districts in East Java for questioning as witnesses in a bribery case.
They will be questioned in the case involving BS, the chief of the East Java Provincial Finance and Asset Management Board (BPKAD) for the 2014–2016 term and the chief of the East Java Provincial Development Planning Board for the 2017–2018 term, and his colleagues.
“Today, the questioning of witnesses for the suspect BS and his colleagues in the bribery case related to financial assistance from East Java province for the 2014–2018 period will take place at the office of the Surabaya City Police,” KPK spokesperson Ali Fikri informed in Jakarta on Thursday.
The five witnesses are the chief of Mojokerto District’s Bappeda, Bambang Eko Wahyudi; chief of Jombang District’s Bappeda, Danang Praptoko; chief of Sidoarjo District’s Bappeda, Heri Soesanto; chief of Malang District’s Bappeda, Tomie Herawanto; and chief of Malang City’s Bappeda, Dwi Rahayu.
In addition, KPK also summoned the chief of the Public Works and Public Housing Office in Pasuruan District, Hanung Widya Sasangka, as a witness in the case.
KPK named BS a suspect in the bribery case after conducting a series of investigations based on the legal fact obtained from the trial of former Tulungagung district head, identified by his initials as SM, his colleagues, and PT Kediri Putra director, identified by his initials as TP.
During the case reconstruction, KPK alleged that BS, who held the post of East Java Provincial BPKAD chief, had agreed to disburse financial assistance from to Tulungagung District for a “fee,” which amounted to 7–8 percent of the total financial assistance in 2015.
Chief of the Tulungagung District Public Works and Public Housing Office, Sutrisno, reportedly gave Rp3.5 billion in “fees” to BS.
In 2017, BS was appointed chief of the East Java Provincial Development Planning Board so he had absolute authority to disburse financial assistance.
KPK alleged that BS received a “fee” of Rp6.75 billion in return for the disbursement of financial assistance worth Rp30.4 billion in 2017 and Rp29.2 billion in 2018.
