Nakhon Si Thammarat: Electricity Generating Public Company Limited (EGCO Group), through its Khanom Power Plant Learning Center, has collaborated with the National Science Museum (NSM) to organize the “Automata Wonder: Moving Machines, Inspiring” exhibition. This event aims to communicate complex scientific and engineering principles through mechanical toys, known as Automata Toys, and is set to position Khanom District as a new hub for sustainable science learning in Southern Thailand. The exhibition is open to the public free of charge from now until August 2025 at the Khanom Power Plant Learning Center.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Nares Chue-Kerd, Managing Director of Khanom Electricity Generating Company Limited, emphasized the significance of the exhibition and workshops, highlighting their role in fostering creativity and promoting integrated learning in STEAM subjects, combined with local wisdom, referred to as STEAM + 1. These initiatives are designed to equip youth and educators with essential 21st-century skills such as systematic thinking, teamwork, and practical knowledge application. Mr. Nares believes this initiative will serve as a catalyst for Khanom District to emerge as a notable center for sustainable science education for both academic institutions and the general public. There is also potential for future development into a broader learning center focusing on energy, science, and innovation in the South.
Dr. Peeranuch Kanhadilok, Director of the National Science Awareness Development Center (NSM), remarked on the value of the exhibition, underscoring the myriad science activities and lifelong learning opportunities presented through the museum’s resources. The rotating exhibition offers an invaluable chance for southern youth and visitors from different regions to engage with the mechanisms of mechanical devices and basic engineering principles using Automata Toys. This interaction is intended to spark creativity and inspire interest in STEAM subjects.
The exhibition welcomes visitors, schools, and youths without charge from today through August 2025 at the Khanom Power Plant Learning Center, located in Khanom District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province.
