Rayong: Envicco, a subsidiary of PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited, has been awarded its first certification for greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to 18,254 tons of carbon dioxide through the Standard Thailand Voluntary Emission Reduction Program (Standard T-VER). The certification was granted by the Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization).
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Natthanan Sirirak, Managing Director of Envicco Co., Ltd., highlighted the significance of their project, which is the first in Thailand to achieve carbon credit certification from solid waste management activities. The project focuses on sorting and recovering plastic from waste using voluntary greenhouse gas reduction methods. Mr. Natthanan emphasized that this certification bolsters Envicco’s leadership in the recycling of used plastics and facilitates carbon offset activities to support the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and achieve carbon neutrality.
Envicco has commenced data collection on th
e reduction of greenhouse gas emissions achieved by their project, which involves separating and processing plastic waste to produce recycled plastic pellets. The project operates in the Asia Industrial Estate, Rayong Province, using domestic consumption waste as raw materials. The process incorporates advanced technologies to produce high-quality recycled plastic pellets that can replace original plastics. The recycled product has a Carbon Footprint Product (CFP) value 60% lower than that of original plastic pellets. With a production capacity of 45,000 tons of recycled pellets annually, the project supports the circular economy by utilizing over 430,000 tons of used plastics over seven years. This initiative is projected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 574,700 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent during its course from 2023 to 2029.
