Bangkok: Central Investigation Bureau police have apprehended a 25-year-old man posing as a doctor, who allegedly deceived individuals into investing in the establishment of a beauty clinic. The victims reportedly suffered losses exceeding 3 million baht.
According to Thai News Agency, the Central Investigation Bureau, acting on an arrest warrant issued by the Phra Nakhon Nuea District Court on November 4, 2024, detained Mr. Panatthaphum on charges of fraud. The arrest occurred in front of a condominium located in the Lumpini Subdistrict, Pathum Wan District, Bangkok.
Mr. Panatthaphum allegedly masqueraded as a cosmetic surgeon, convincing victims to finance a cosmetic surgery clinic under the false pretense of possessing facial plastic surgery skills. Upon further investigation by the victims, it was revealed that Mr. Panatthaphum was not a licensed medical professional, leading to financial losses amounting to over 3 million baht.
Further examination of documents confirmed that Mr. Panatthaphum neither h
eld a medical license nor was affiliated with the medical profession. It was also uncovered that he had fraudulently used a medical license to work at multiple beauty clinics, causing significant damage. Authorities tracked Mr. Panatthaphum to a luxury condominium in central Bangkok, where they executed his arrest. He was subsequently transferred to Wang Thonglang Police Station for questioning and further legal proceedings. The charges against him include fraud against the public and violations under the Medical Profession Act B.E. 2525, specifically for practicing medicine without authorization and misrepresenting himself as a medical practitioner. Despite the accusations, Mr. Panatthaphum denied all charges during his arrest.
