Female Soldiers’ Contributions to UN Peacekeeping Missions Spotlighted


HANOI: An exchange programme in Hanoi has highlighted the significant contributions of female soldiers to United Nations peacekeeping missions, underscoring their vital roles in global peace efforts. Organized by the Ministry of Defence’s Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations in collaboration with the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the event also marked the opening of a photo exhibition showcasing the endeavors of Vietnamese female military personnel.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the exhibition features nearly 100 photographs captured by Vietnamese military personnel who have been directly involved in UN peacekeeping missions over the past decade. The display aims to celebrate and recognize the efforts and achievements of these women in maintaining peace and security in conflict zones around the world. The exhibition is hosted at the Vietnamese Women’s Museum on Ly Thuong Kiet street, Hoan Kiem district, and will be open to the public until November 8.

The Ministry of Defence has actively par
ticipated in UN peacekeeping efforts, sending a total of 147 servicewomen to various missions. This initiative not only highlights Vietnam’s commitment to international peacekeeping but also emphasizes the integral role of women in these operations. The exhibition and exchange programme serve as a platform to discuss and raise awareness about the challenges and successes faced by female peacekeepers in their line of duty.
