Fifth rehearsal of the Royal Barge Procession


The Royal Thai Navy held the 5th rehearsal of the Royal Barge Procession.

Vice Admiral Vijit Tanprapa, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Royal Thai Navy for Personnel and Chairman of the Committee on Preparation for the Royal Barge Procession (Chairman of the Committee on Preparation for the Royal Barge Procession), inspected the readiness at the assembly point under the Rama VIII Bridge. On this occasion, the heads of the boat receiving units of each rower in the Royal Barge Procession joined the meal and talked with their subordinates at the assembly point under the Rama VIII Bridge as well as other assembly points at the Thonburi Naval Dockyard, the Royal Thai Navy Dockyard Department, and the Small Fleet, the Royal Thai Navy Transportation Department to build morale before the rehearsal. They also joined the inspection of the 5th minor rehearsal at the Royal Naval Academy Building.

For the Royal Barge Procession this time, a total of 52 royal barges were used, 1,280 meters long and 90 meters wide, with a to
tal of 2,399 personnel on board. The rehearsal for the royal barge procession was organized in the ancient royal tradition in every respect. The rehearsal for the procession will start with a small rehearsal of the barge procession in the Chao Phraya River 10 times, as follows:

On August 1, 8, 15, 22, September 3, 12, 19, 26, October 3 and 10. This is the 5th rehearsal and the 2nd full rehearsal on October 15 and 22. The royal ceremony is scheduled for October 27, 2024.

The public can watch the rehearsal along the entire route of the procession. Public areas where people can watch closely are as follows: Thonburi side, under Rama VIII Bridge, near the King Rama VIII Monument, 72nd Anniversary Chalermprakiat Park, next to Siriraj Hospital, Wat Rakhang Khositaram Pier, and Wat Arun Ratchawararam. Phra Nakhon side, at Santichaiprakan Park, next to Phra Sumen Fort, Tha Maharaj Pier, and Tha Chang Pier, starting at 3:00 p.m. where the royal barges start moving in the procession area at Rama VIII Bridge until the
ceremony ends at Wat Arun Ratchawararam.
