Filed an investigation into “Senator Nantana” over an interview that insulted “Senator who sells pork”


Good Governance Group” submits “Senate Chairman” to investigate “Senator Nantana” both criminally and ethically, the issue of an interview insulting “Senator selling pork” who has been seated on the Political Development Committee, confirming that there is no personal bias.

Reporters reported that the Good Governance Group of the Civil Society Network on Corruption and Fraud submitted a letter to Mr. Mongkol Surassajja, President of the Senate, to investigate Ms. Nantananantwaropa, a member of the Senate, to see if her behavior may have violated the ethical standards of a Senate member. The Director of the Senate President’s Office accepted the case.

Mr. Disadet Hirunjirakun, Vice Chairman of the Good Governance Group of the Civil Society Network Against Corruption and Fraud, said that following Ms. Nantana’s interview with the media about the selection of the Political Development Committee that she was not selected for, but instead had a pork vendor join the Political Development Committee, which was a s
peech that despised human dignity in a way that devalued others or devalued any member of the Senate who is a pork vendor who was selected as a member of the Senate Political Development Committee, Public Participation, Human Rights, Freedoms, and Consumer Protection.

Such action may fall under the offense of defamation under Section 393 of the Criminal Code, which states that an action in which the perpetrator expresses feelings towards the person being defamated in a manner that is not intended to damage their reputation but is an action to ridicule, humiliate or look down on them.

Therefore, I would like the Senate to investigate Ms. Nantana’s behavior to see if it falls under the category of contempt under Section 393. I would also like to investigate the manager who may have violated the regulations on the Code of Ethics for Senators and Committees B.E. 2563, including the ethical standards for judges of the Constitutional Court and office holders in independent organizations B.E. 2561, which are appli
cable to members of the House of Representatives and the Senate, and the Cabinet, according to the Constitution B.E. 2560, Section 219, Paragraph 2, Chapter 2, Ethical Standards as Core Values.

If an investigation finds that the case is a violation of the criminal law and the ethical standards of senators, please proceed in accordance with the relevant laws or forward the matter to the relevant agencies to proceed in accordance with the relevant laws.

While Mr. Sunthorn Boonying, head of the legal working group of the Good Governance Group, added that he personally had never known Ms. Nantana before. This complaint was filed in accordance with the law and there was no personal bias. As for whether it was wrong or not, it was up to the Senate President to consider.
