Fireball Meteor Illuminates Night Sky Across Several Thai Provinces

Bangkok: The phenomenon of a ‘fireball meteor’ appearing in the sky captivated residents in several provinces of Thailand last night. The Thai Astronomical Society provided insights into this celestial event, which involved a large fireball accompanied by a loud explosion.

According to Thai News Agency, the remarkable event occurred at midnight on August 4th. The Thai Astronomical Society reported that the fireball, observed across various provinces, was likely a meteoroid. The greenish hue of the light suggested that the meteoroid may contain nickel.

Meteors are formed when small celestial objects enter the Earth’s atmosphere, causing them to rub against the air at altitudes between 80-120 kilometers. This friction generates a bright flash across the sky. The size of the object determines the intensity of the heat and light produced, with larger objects creating more significant displays.
