On October 4, 2024, the flood situation in Mae Sai District, Chiang Rai Province, both Wiang Pang Kham Subdistrict and Mae Sai Subdistrict, last night found that the amount of water from Sai had overflowed into the community areas in the Hua Fai, Sai Lom Joy, Koh Sai Mai Lung Khan Mueang Daeng communities. The amount of water had overflowed from the houses of the people located next to the Sai River and some of it had overflowed from Big Bags near the Mae Sai-Tachilek Friendship Bridge No. 1 and the leak point from the Ban Hua Fai area.

Throughout the night, officials tried to plug the leak and pump the water back into the Sai River as before to prevent a large amount of water from overflowing into the community. This morning, the amount of water in the Sai River gradually decreased, causing water in various areas to still be stagnant. In the Pham Kwai community, Mae Sai Subdistrict, which is a community that just received help and had mud removed from the alley because it is a
low-lying area, but because of the water last night, the Pham Kwai community was flooded again. Officials will provide urgent assistance.

However, the water situation in Mae Sai District, especially the area next to the Sai River, still needs to be monitored continuously because there is still a large amount of rain falling. To the north of the Sai River, local administrative organizations, including Wiang Phang Kham Subdistrict Municipality and Mae Sai Subdistrict Municipality, have gathered forces to block water along the banks to prevent the water from the Sai River from easily overflowing into the community. They have also announced warnings and provided assistance to villagers who wish to evacuate the area.
