Flash floods inundate houses in Loei for the 4th time

Many areas in the Northeast are still flooded. Loei Province has been flooded for the 4th time. Meanwhile, Udon Thani Province has been hit by heavy rain all day and night. The province has issued a warning to residents living along the Huai Luang River to move their belongings to higher ground immediately.

Reporters reported that the flood situation in Udon Thani Province has been heavy throughout the day and night. Water has flooded many areas. Many roads in the province are flooded. At 4:00 p.m., the rain is still falling. It is expected that it will continue to fall throughout the night. On Ban Lueam-Chiang Yuen Road, the road is flooded in the area of ??the Kuan Im Shrine and the water level is rising steadily. On Mittraphap Road from Ban Chan Intersection to Khon Kaen Province, water from the Ban Chan Dam has flooded the main road from Udon Thani to Khon Kaen Province. Small cars cannot pass through. People who will travel from Udon Thani to Khon Kaen Province are warned to avoid this route.

n though Udon Thani Province is not widely flooded, the area that has been most affected is the villages along the Huai Luang Stream, which has been flooded for almost 2 weeks now due to the continuous release of water from the Huai Luang Dam and the amount of rain that has been falling all day. Today, volunteers and officers from the Watchdog Thailand Foundation brought food to the villagers’ pets. The province recently warned villagers with houses, so we would like to warn villagers with houses along the Huai Luang Stream that they will be affected, starting from Mueang District, Phen District, Phibun Rak District, Ban Dung District, and Sang Khom District. We ask that villagers be prepared and move their belongings to higher ground because flash floods may occur.

In Sang Khom District, the water situation is also serious. Many villages have been flooded for almost a month. Today, officials rode in a high-riding pickup truck through the water to deliver supplies to 309 households in Ban Non Sao Ae, Village
6, Tambon Sang Khom. As for the route from Sang Khom District to Ban Tha Siao, water from Huai Luang has overflowed the road, flooded houses, and more than 10,000 rai of farmland. In some places, the water level is more than 50 meters high. Cars and low-bed pickup trucks cannot pass through. High-riding pickup trucks can still use this route.

In Loei Province, the continuous rain since last night until now has caused the mass of water from the river and stream from Kok Du Subdistrict, Mueang District, Loei to flow into Huai Nam Phan at Ban Na O, Na O Subdistrict, Mueang District, Loei, unable to flow fast enough and overflowing into the houses of people in 4 villages: Villages 1-2-5-7, totaling 250 households, causing severe hardship. The water flooded the houses 20 cm. – 1 meter high. Villagers had to bring sandbags to block the water flow to prevent the mass of water from entering the houses again. The governor of Loei Province, along with the district chief of Mueang Loei and the provincial disaster preve
ntion and mitigation department, brought flat-bottomed boats to the area to deliver rice, water, and dry food to help the villagers, and also brought the elderly, the sick, and young children out of their homes to stay in the shelters provided by the province.

While in Ban Kamnoet Phet, Tambon Mueang, Amphoe Mueang, water from Reservoir overflowed the spillway by about 50 centimeters and flowed into Khlong Nam Phrao, overflowing the banks, and flooding houses. At the Kamnoet Phet traffic light intersection, turn left to Reservoir Nam Phrao, a distance of more than 300 meters, the water flowed across the road, 40-60 centimeters deep, forcing the closure of traffic. Meanwhile, there were 50 houses that were flooded, with the deepest being 1 meter. The village headman, village elders, and the sub-district administrative organization had to put sandbags in front of their houses and help lift important items to higher ground. The water current was strong at the section of the water pipe under the Loei-Chiang Khan
Road, before the Loei Rajabhat University Road. The current situation is still raining continuously.
