Floodwaters from Doi Suthep flood Chiang Mai

Floodwaters from Doi Suthep overflowed into Chiang Mai city, causing flooding on many roads after hours of heavy rain.

Last night, September 21, heavy rain fell on Doi Suthep and Chiang Mai city for several hours. The floodwater from Doi Suthep flowed down streams and into Chiang Mai city, causing flooding on Prachasat Road, Suriyawong Road, Kad Kom Community, Nantaram Road Soi 5 K, Fa Mai Community, and Si Ping Muang Community. The water level was 20-40 centimeters high, and in some areas, 50 centimeters deep. In particular, the 100-meter stretch from Kad Kom to Fa Mai Community, many motorcycles had their engines stalled, forcing locals to wade through the water. Chiang Mai City Municipality officials helped collect trash along the roadside drains, eased traffic, and quickly drained water into Mae Kha Canal for more than 3 hours until the water level dropped and returned to normal.
