Foreign media keeps an eye on Paethongtarn’s first vision presentation at the ACD meeting


International media is keeping a close eye on “Prime Minister Paethongtarn” who is preparing to present her vision for the first time at the ACD Summit in Doha this week.

Thailand must stand as number one on the world stage after foreign media are interested in Prime Minister Paethongtarn preparing to present her vision on an important world stage for the first time since assuming the position at the ACD Leaders’ Summit in Doha, Qatar, confident in demonstrating her potential to build confidence in Thailand among 35 global member countries on Thursday, October 3, while the Prime Minister is confident that on January 1, she will be ready to take over Thailand as Chair.

Today (29 September 2024), Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, Advisor to the Prime Minister, revealed that Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister and her delegation are scheduled to travel to attend the 3rd Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Leaders’ Meeting during 2 – 3 October 2024 in Doha, Qatar, at the invitation of Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, R
uler of Qatar.

The Prime Minister will present his vision on the morning of Thursday, October 3, which will cover many topics such as the economy, society, and development of other related resources among member countries. In addition, an important topic to be discussed is ‘Sports Diplomacy’ or the use of sports for international diplomacy, including visions on dealing with regional and global challenges, seeking cooperation in various dimensions, and emphasizing Thailand’s commitment and readiness to drive cooperation under the ACD framework to achieve tangible results on the occasion of Thailand’s 2025 ACD Chair on January 1, 2025. He will also co-endorse the Doha Declaration, a document expressing the political intent of the leaders of member countries to drive cooperation in sports diplomacy and promote the ACD as a forum for international policy discussions in Asia.

Mr. Chirayu continued that this trip to join the meeting is considered the Prime Minister’s first time attending an international meeting.
The international media is interested in the new leader of Thailand who will travel to present his vision for the first time after assuming the position. It is an important opportunity for Thailand to publicize the country in all dimensions. It will also promote bilateral relations with ACD member countries to be closer, including opportunities to expand trade, investment, and cooperation at the government level to build confidence in Thailand’s political and economic stability. It will also demonstrate Thailand’s leadership role as the initiator of the ACD framework, which is considered a cooperation framework with the largest number of members in Asia, up to 35 countries.

‘The ACD meeting has been vacant for 8 years due to the pandemic situation. This time, the Islamic Republic of Iran will chair the meeting and the State of Qatar will host the meeting. There will also be a business conference in parallel with the meeting. The Thai government has ministers related to the Ministry of Economic Affairs, such
as Mr. Pichai Naripthaphan, Minister of Commerce, who will travel to meet with ministers from 35 member countries,’ said Mr. Chirayu.
