Former famous football player arrested for using free time from training to ‘smuggle big batches of drugs’

The Metropolitan Police Commissioner ordered ‘Pol. Col. Jor’ to lead the Metropolitan Police Investigation Team and Din Daeng Police Station to arrest a famous former football player from a Thai League club who used his free time from training to ‘smuggle a big batch of drugs.’

Yesterday (August 5), Pol. Lt. Gen. Thiti Sangsawang, Commissioner-General of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, Pol. Maj. Gen. Tingkorn Rangmat, Deputy Commissioner-General of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, ordered Pol. Maj. Gen. Thiradech Thamsuthee, Commander of the Metropolitan Police Bureau’s Crime Suppression Division, officers from the Metropolitan Police Bureau’s Crime Suppression Division, the Metropolitan Police Bureau’s Crime Suppression Division 1, and the Narcotics Suppression Center (Team 5) to jointly investigate and expand the results to track down and arrest Mr. Jessadaporn or Film, aged 22, a suspect with an arrest warrant from the Criminal Court on the charge of ‘colluding in a group of two or more people to commit a
serious crime related to narcotics and committing a serious crime related to narcotics because of the colluding by jointly distributing Category 1 narcotics (ice or methamphetamine) with the intention of distributing, for the purpose of trading, and causing the distribution to the public illegally, affecting national security or the safety of the general public.’ and jointly distributing psychotropic substances type 2 (ketamine) by having them for sale is an act for trade, causing illegal distribution among the public, affecting national security or the safety of the general public.’

In May 2024, police arrested a ‘cockfighting expert’ who was arrested on a drug-related warrant. However, after the arrest, the investigation was expanded and a large batch of drugs was found, including 26 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and 15 kilograms of ketamine, which were stored in a rented room in the Din Daeng area of ??Bangkok. The Metropolitan Police Bureau’s Crime Suppression Division 1, the Metropolitan Police I
nvestigation Division, and the Narcotics Suppression Center (Team 5) jointly investigated the source of the drugs in detail until they found evidence from many sources, all of which clearly pointed to ‘Film,’ a famous football player. The investigation data also clearly indicated that this famous football player was also a ‘pilot,’ meaning he was the driver who transported the drugs from the surrounding provinces. In addition to this batch of drugs, he had also transported similar drugs since the beginning of 2024. Currently, this suspect is still a professional football player, playing for a famous club.

After gathering a lot of evidence, the court approved an arrest warrant for the suspect. Later, the investigation team found out that the suspect appeared at a temple in Lam Luk Ka. When the officers went to investigate, they found that the suspect was holding a funeral for his daughter who had just died at the age of 9 months. Pol. Maj. Gen. Thiradech ordered the officers to surround the pavilion and crema
torium first. When the cremation ceremony was over, they immediately took Mr. Film into custody. During the arrest, Mr. Film confessed to all charges.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Thiradej Thamsuthee, Commander of the Metropolitan Police Bureau’s Crime Suppression Division, said, ‘From the investigation, this footballer began to enter the drug trade around the beginning of 2024. It is believed that he has transported drugs in this manner many times, using his free time from sports practice. As for other accomplices, we will keep the details a secret for now. However, we confirm that we will expand the investigation to the fullest extent and will take strict measures before sending him to the Din Daeng Police Station for further legal action.
