Several former players from Garuda Select and the Indonesia national team will join the Indonesia All Stars squad set to compete in the International Youth Championship (IYC) 2021.
The Indonesia All Stars team already has several renowned players, such as Komang Teguh Trisnanda, Alif Jaelani, Fajar Fathur Rahman, and Sutan Diego Zico, according to a statement here on Thursday.
Trisnanda admitted to not being nervous about facing European clubs during the IYC 2021 scheduled on December 4-11.
Trisnanda spoke of having experience in competing against European clubs while joining the Garuda Select.
“I may have more experience, so I know how European members play,” he stated.
Trisnanda believes that the IYC 2021 is immensely beneficial for him and his team mates at Indonesia All Stars.
Trisnanda deems that fighting against major European clubs in Indonesia will provide an enriching experience to him and the team mates.
The IYC 2021, which will be held in Bali and Jakarta this year, invites junior teams from major clubs from Spain namely Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Atletico Madrid.
Indonesia All Stars will face off against these three Spain clubs during the group phase at the Kapten I Wayan Dipta Stadium, Bali, on December 4-8.
Thereafter, the match for the third place and the final of the IYC 2021 is planned to be held at the Jakarta International Stadium on December 11, 2021.
Earlier, Pancoran Soccer Field (PSF) Chairman I Gede Widiade assessed that the IYC 2021 was capable of serving as a platform to reflect Indonesia’s success in handling the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We urge officials and players, as football figures, to observe and convey what the Indonesian government had done to control COVID-19,” he noted at the IYC 2021 virtual press conference on Wednesday.
