Found ten thousand baht after ATM automatically sucked it back.

The family of a 76-year-old grandfather is overjoyed to find 10,000 baht after the bank found that the ATM system sucked the money back into the machine because the money was not taken out at the specified time. They apologized to the lottery vendor for the misunderstanding.

Progress in the case of Ms. Napaporn, aged 54, a villager of Huai, Tambon Tapek, Amphoe Chaloem Phra Kiat, Buriram Province, who filed a complaint at Chaloem Phra Kiat Police Station and lit incense sticks to worship the image of her deceased mother, asking for her mother’s spirit to help. On September 30, 2024, she took her father’s ATM card, Mr. Pliew, aged 76, to withdraw 10,000 baht to stimulate the economy for vulnerable groups at an ATM (BAAC) Chaloem Phra Kiat branch, but the money did not flow out. When she took her passbook to adjust it, she found that the money had already been withdrawn. Initially, she suspected that the lottery vendor who was queuing to withdraw money might have taken the money.

Later, the news team went to
find Mr. Niyom, 51 years old, a villager of Tako, Chaloem Phra Kiat District, a traveling lottery vendor who was the one who waited in line to withdraw money after Ms. Napaporn and was thought to be the one who took the money. Mr. Nikhom insisted that he did not take Ms. Napaporn’s money, but only withdrew his own money.

The latest is that the director of the BAAC Buriram office, along with the manager of the BAAC Chaloem Phrakiat branch, have arranged for Mr. Pliew, aged 76, the account owner, along with his daughter, Ms. Naphaphon, and Mr. Niyom, a lottery vendor, to meet and talk at the BAAC Chaloem Phra branch. The bank stated that an investigation found that the 10,000 baht had not disappeared and that no one had taken it out of the ATM. However, the system had sucked the money back into the ATM because the customer did not take it out of the cash slot within the specified time, which is the bank’s security system. The ATM the customer used was a CDM, which is a system for depositing, withdrawing, and t
ransferring money in one machine. In this case, this was a misunderstanding because the customer had never withdrawn money from a deposit-withdrawal machine before. The bank will transfer the money back to the customer’s account by Monday, as it must comply with the bank’s regulations.

Ms. Naphaporn raised her hands in a wai to apologize to Mr. Niyom, the lottery vendor, who misunderstood and thought that he had taken 10,000 baht. She also thanked all agencies that helped track down the money until she found out that the ATM system had sucked the 10,000 baht back into the machine.
