Bangkok: On the occasion of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother’s birthday and National Mother’s Day on August 12, 2025, mothers can enjoy free rides on all four MRT lines in Thailand.
According to Thai News Agency, the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA), in collaboration with the concessionaires of the four MRT lines, is organizing a special “Mothers Ride Free” event. This initiative is aimed at celebrating the Queen and fostering love within families.
Ms. Sasikarn Wattanachan, Deputy Government Spokesperson, announced that the free rides are available for mothers traveling with their children on the MRT Chalong Ratchadham Line (Purple Line) and MRT Chaloem Ratchamongkhon Line (Blue Line), operated by Bangkok Expressway and Metro Public Company Limited (BEM). The MRT Nakhon Ratchasima Line (Yellow Line) is managed by Eastern Bangkok Monorail Company Limited (EBM), and the MRT Pink Line by Northern Bangkok Monorail Company Limited (NBM). Mothers can obtain free tickets or coupons at the ticket office at every station, while children pay the regular fare. This initiative aims to promote travel and strengthen family bonds.
