G20: Delegations from 14 nations to join 2nd TIIWG meeting

Fourteen delegations from G20 member nations will participate in the second meeting of the Trade, Investment and Industry Working Group (TIIWG) in Surakarta city, Central Java province, from July 5–7, 2022.

The TIIWG was established in 2016 to discuss major trade and investment issues as well as to coordinate efforts by G20 nations to strengthen global trade and investment.

“We, the Investment Ministry, will become the host (of the meeting). The delegates are starting to arrive today (July 4),” deputy for investment cooperation at the ministry, Riyatno, informed here on Monday, at a security personnel gathering on the implementation of the G20 event.

The second meeting of TIIWG will feature a number of main events, starting with a welcome dinner on the evening of July 5, he noted.

Furthermore, the series of sessions of the TIIWG meeting will take place on July 6 and 7 at the Solo Alila Hotel.

Investment Minister Bahlil Lahadalia; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mahendra Siregar; and chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Arsjad Rasjid, will deliver their remarks on the first day of the meeting, the deputy informed.

“Furthermore, there will be a G20 cultural carnival on July 7. The preparation will be conducted at Loji Gandrung (the official residence of the Surakarta Mayor),” he said.

According to the website of the Surakarta City Culture and Tourism Office, the cultural festival will be held concurrently with the Solo Batik Carnival (SBC).

Riyatno said that the 14 G20 delegations comprise 106 participants. Forty-eight participants have confirmed they will attend the meeting in person.

In addition, the meeting will be attended by delegations from five international organizations and a number of invited countries.

The deputy said he expects the implementation of the TIIWG meeting to run safely, smoothly, and successfully.

“The preparations have been completed to welcome the delegates and to implement the meeting,” he added.

On the same occasion, Deputy Mayor of Surakarta, Teguh Prakosa, said that the security and the hospitality of the G20 delegates must be monitored properly.

“It is our duty to serve and make the delegations comfortable — not only them, but also the people (of Surakarta city) who are the hosts of the meeting,” he added.
