Gen. Prayut and Prime Minister Pay Homage to Thai Supreme Patriarch on Birthday

Bangkok: Gen. Prayut and the Prime Minister, along with their spouses, paid homage to Somdech Phra Ariyawongsakattaya, the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand, on his birthday on June 26, 2025, at Arun Palace, Wat Ratchabophit Sathit Maha Simaram, Phra Nakhon District. The Prime Minister noted a meeting with Gen. Prayut during the event but did not disclose any discussions on the political situation.

According to Thai News Agency, the Prime Minister arrived at 9:05 a.m., placing a wreath at the statue of King Chulalongkorn before paying respects to the Supreme Patriarch. Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, serving as Prime Minister and Privy Councilor, arrived shortly after to pay his respects.

General Surayud Chulanont, President of the Privy Council, also attended the ceremony, arriving at 09.28 hrs. He paid homage to the royal monument of King Chulalongkorn before engaging in a brief exchange with Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra as she was leaving.

The Prime Minister’s interaction with General Prayut was noted, yet when pressed by reporters about any political discussions, the Prime Minister chose not to comment, maintaining a smile while departing for Government House.
