Korat: Over 600 teams nationwide are set to compete in the GLO Cup 2025, with the first matches scheduled to kick off in Korat on June 10th. The tournament will serve as a platform for regional representatives to vie for the Thailand Championship. Additionally, standout youth players will be selected as GLO Stars, granting them an opportunity to train with J-League teams in Japan.
According to Thai News Agency, the official draw ceremony for the 8-a-side youth football competition, GLO Cup 2025, took place at the Government Lottery Office on June 4, 2025. The event was graced by Lieutenant Colonel Noon Sansanakom, Director of the Government Lottery Office, and other notable figures including Lieutenant Commander Suphas Chantasanakul and Air Chief Marshal Piyapong Pue-on, who is the Chairman of the Thai Football Development Foundation.
The tournament has attracted significant interest, with over 600 teams registering across two categories: Under-13 (U13) and Under-15 (U15). The regional qualifying rounds will commence in Nakhon Ratchasima Province, with matches organized in a round-robin format. The top teams will advance through a series of rounds, culminating in a national final in Bangkok. Notably, Bangkok teams have already secured spots in the Thailand final round.
In addition to the main competition, the GLO Cup 2025 will feature a search for 30 promising young players, known as GLO Stars. These players will have the chance to attend a training camp and potentially join Avispa Fukuoka, a prominent J-League 1 club, for a six-month training stint in Japan.
The tournament also boasts substantial financial incentives, with over 1,000,000 baht in support and prize money distributed across various stages of the competition. Teams reaching the regional and Thailand finals will receive maintenance fees, while the top four teams in the final round will earn significant cash prizes.
The regional competition schedule includes stops in Chonburi, Ratchaburi, Bangkok, Surat Thani, Udon Thani, and Chiang Mai, leading up to the Thailand Final in September 2025 at Supachalasai Stadium, Bangkok.
