‘Got’ awaits weightlifting gold medal after stimulant scandal

‘Got’ Chatuphum Chinwong reveals his feelings, hoping to win a gold medal in weightlifting every day after the discovery of stimulant use.

Flight Sergeant Chatuphum Chinwong, or Got, a former male weightlifter in the 77 kg division at the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil, spoke about his feelings after news broke that three competitors who had previously received medals had tested positive for stimulants. If he did not appeal to the International Olympic Committee (IOC), he would be promoted to receive the gold medal, which would make him the first weightlifter in Thai history to receive a gold medal.

At the same time, he also said that even though he did not receive a medal on the podium, he still felt happy because in the sports competition he intended and wanted to do his best. At this time, when there was news about the use of stimulants, he felt happy, excited, and even though he might have to wait for the IOC’s inspection process for another year, he was ready to wait. In addition, Got also mentioned the
use of stimulants in sports competitions, saying that it is something that should not be used. Sports competitions should be measured by ability and honesty. At the same time, he would like to give encouragement to all youth who are interested in weightlifting.

Currently, Flight Sergeant Chatuphum Chinwong is assigned to the Air Force with the rank of Flight Sergeant and is a coach and trainer for weightlifters in the Air Force.
