Bangkok: The government has announced the implementation of the “Half-Half Plus” scheme, aimed at promoting the “Travel All Over Thailand, Pay Half” initiative across public transport systems nationally. This effort seeks to alleviate financial burdens on citizens while bolstering the grassroots economy.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Lalida Periswiwattana, Deputy Government Spokesperson, shared updates on the government’s targeted economic stimulus measures, including the expansion of the “Half-Half Plus” project. This initiative now encompasses spending on all public transportation systems nationwide.
Ms. Lalida emphasized the government’s recognition of the need to reduce living costs, with transportation being a significant daily expense. The project has been adjusted to address this requirement specifically. She stated, “The ‘Half-Half Plus’ public transportation system project reinforces the government’s commitment to providing comprehensive and equitable care to all groups of people.” The project is designed to circulate funds to small businesses effectively.
The Transport Company Limited (BKS) is officially participating in the project, allowing individuals to use their payment rights for BKS bus tickets on all routes nationwide, available at ticket booths from October 29 to December 31, 2025. A maximum daily limit of 200 baht has been set to ensure balanced spending distribution.
The scheme is inclusive of all public vehicle types, such as motorcycles, tuk-tuks, taxis, songthaews, vans, and buses. The Department of Land Transport is facilitating registration nationwide from October 15 to December 19, 2025, prioritizing accessibility for licensed operators and small juristic entities with annual revenues not exceeding 1.8 million baht.
“The government is confident that this measure will effectively inject money into the grassroots economy,” Ms. Lalida highlighted. She also noted that it would support small entrepreneurs’ integration into the system and advance digital services, marking an investment in improving the quality of life for Thai people and fostering sustainable economic strength.
