Bangkok: The government is preparing to organize three major events to honor His Majesty the King, involving 108 government agencies participating in 1,013 projects.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, spokesman of the Prime Minister’s Office, revealed that Mr. Phumtham Vejjayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Acting Prime Minister, chaired a meeting of the Steering Committee for the Celebration of His Majesty King Rama VI on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his passing on November 25, 2025. The committee is also planning celebrations for King Ananda Mahidol’s 100th birth anniversary on September 20, 2025, and Princess Bejaratana Rajasuda Siri Sobhaphannavadi’s 100th birth anniversary on November 24, 2025. The meeting was attended by several key ministers and officials, including Mr. Pichai Chunhavajira, Mr. Pirapan Salirathavibhaga, Mr. Chusak Sirinil, Mr. Suchart Tancharoen, Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Mr. Maris Sengiampong, Air Chief Marshal Pakdee Sang-Xuto, and Thanpuying Butri Viravaidya, among others.
Mr. Phumtham emphasized the significance of these celebrations to commemorate the contributions of the royals to the country and to express loyalty. The government aims to ensure the celebrations are conducted smoothly and respectfully. A working group has been appointed to oversee the organization of these events, which will include royal ceremonies and various projects. The Office of the Permanent Secretary to the Prime Minister, along with relevant agencies, is preparing implementation guidelines for these celebrations.
The meeting acknowledged the formation of the Executive Committee for the celebrations and discussed the preparation of logos for these significant events. Government agencies have been invited to participate in the celebrations with a total of 1,013 projects planned across 108 agencies. Specifically, 340 projects will honor King Rama VI, 370 projects will celebrate King Ananda Mahidol, and 303 projects will commemorate Princess Bejaratana Rajasuda Siri Sobhaphannavadi.
The events will include ceremonies at Wat Phra Pathom Chedi in Nakhon Pathom Province and Wat Suthat Thepwararam in Bangkok. Activities will include the creation of commemorative coins and stamps, exhibitions, learning activities, historical publications, and publicizing the royal biographies and achievements.
Mr. Phumtham urged the agencies assigned to these celebrations to ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with the honor due to His Majesty.
