Gov’t already considers bonuses for 11th APG athletes: NPC

The Indonesian National Paralympic Committee (NPC) said that the government had considered providing bonuses to the athletes who had bagged the medals at the 11th ASEAN Para Games (APG).

“Regarding the bonuses for the outstanding athletes in the 11th APG and (the contingent of) Indonesia (for) being the champion (of the event) with 175 gold, 144 silver, and 107 bronze medals, there is no need to worry since the government has considered it,” Chairperson of Indonesian NPC Senny Marbun said here on Sunday.

However, he continued that he did not know about the amount of the bonuses. Still, he has expected that the amount would be the same as the bonuses provided for the non-disabled athletes participating in the 31st SEA Games.

“The bonuses for athletes will be sent to the account numbers of each athlete. It will be given in stages, thus the athletes do not have to worry about it,” he remarked.

Furthermore, the chairperson of Indonesian NPC has informed that his party is preparing a training camp for the Indonesian NPC athletes in Surakarta City to face the 32th APG which is scheduled to be held in Cambodia on June 3-9, 2023.

that a number of athletes have arrived in Surakarta City for the training camp, however his party is still waiting for a recommendation from Youth and Sports Ministry.

Meanwhile, Chef de Mission (CDM) of the Indonesian contingent at 11th APG Adi Herman has said that his party entirely leaves the provision of the bonus — as the second awards for the athletes after the medals — to the government.

“The amount of the award completely depends on the government. I am sure that the bonus will be provided, as the policy of the current government, in particular the president (Joko Widodo), provides equality between non-disabled athletes and disabled athletes,” he remarked.

The 11th ASEAN Para Games took place in Surakarta City, Central Java, on July 30 to August 6, 2022. Indonesia sent 324 athletes to participate at the event.
