The Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Ministry organized the VokasiLandRoad Masterpiece 2022 in Surabaya to showcase innovative products from the education sector.
Director General of Vocational Studies at the ministry Kiki Yuliati stated that the exhibition, held from July 28 to July 31, 2022, at the Grand City Mall, Surabaya, showcased products resulting from the Freedom in Learning Program.
Yuliati said that the tech products on display served as proof that vocational studies and universities had geared their development towards industry 4.0.
“Vocational education, as affirmative education, is indeed highlighting expertise, ability to meet social and public needs in pursuing welfare, developing science, technology, and innovation, as well as improving (the quality) of economy,” she stated at the start of the event.
Yuliati also believed that the showcased products can meet the public’s needs through various innovations, such as the Jember State Polytechnic that offered electric cars as an eco-friendly, futuristic solution.
She expects similar events to be held as a way to encourage vocational students to be creative and innovative.
Great, new innovative products could become the proof of the role of vocational education in improving the nation’s competitiveness.
Bagas Eka, one of the exhibition’s participant from Batam State Polytechnic, said he was ecstatic to be involved with the RUS Vocational School in that event.
He admitted to having gained knowledge, such as creating animation for simulation application.
“I hope a collaboration like this will always be hosted, because there will always be new things we can get. New knowledge, too. This is because who knows, what we always thought as good already, fine, turned out that there is even better stuff. Thus, we will be always challenged to constantly innovate,” he remarked.
Products to be showcased at the exhibition were ShipSimulator by Cimahi BMTI, bullet vest and airless tire by the Army State Polytechnic.
Other displayed products were the Cassa Trail Motorcycle and gas bike by Malang National Vocational School, electric car by Jember State Polytechnic, and other interesting innovative items.
