With a three thousand-meter-long runway, all types of aircraft up to Boeing 747 and 777 can land at Halim
Jakarta Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi affirmed that the VVIP terminal of Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, Jakarta, is ready to welcome G20 delegates, as the airport revitalization project, underway since March 2022, was complete.
According to Sumadi, the airport resumed operations on September 1, 2022, to serve commercial flights for general passengers after temporarily halting operations in March 2022.
“Today, I made the final check on the results of the revitalization of Halim Airport. Although the work (revitalization) period is short (six months), thanks to the collaboration of all parties, we can conduct this revitalization well,” Sumadi stated during a review at the Halim Perdanakusuma Airport here on Saturday.
He explained that the revitalization included the runway, apron, VVIP terminal, drainage system, and other facilities.
“With a three thousand-meter-long runway, all types of aircraft up to Boeing 747 and 777 can land at Halim,” he remarked.
Moreover, the drainage system was revitalized — in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing — to ensure no formation of puddles that could hinder flights as was observed before the revitalization.
During the review, he also witnessed up-close the new look of the VVIP terminal that was beautified with traditional decorations yet adopting a modern look.
