Hanoi Enhances Ties with Japan’s Fukuoka Prefecture

Dalat – A delegation from Hanoi, led by Standing Vice Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Nguyen Thi Tuyen, visited Fukuoka prefecture in Japan from November 10-12. The visit, which marked 15 years of friendship between Hanoi and Fukuoka, aimed to strengthen the relations between the two localities.

According to Vietnam News Agency, Fukuoka Governor Hattori Seitaro and Chairman of the Fukuoka Prefectural Assembly Kohara Katsuji welcomed the delegation. They viewed the visit as a significant step in resuming exchange activities post-COVID-19 pandemic. During their meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of Hanoi-Fukuoka cooperation to the broader Vietnam-Japan friendship.

They agreed to continue and enhance exchange activities and delegation exchanges at all levels. The focus will be on expanding cooperation in fields like education-training, investment promotion, and trade to develop more practical and comprehensive relationships. The Fukuoka officials announced plans to visit Hanoi in January 2024 to further discuss bilateral collaboration.

On November 11, the Hanoi delegation, in coordination with the Consulate General of Vietnam in Fukuoka, hosted a seminar on Hanoi-Kyushu investment and trade promotion. This event sought to enhance connectivity, exchange, and cooperation between Hanoi and the Kyushu region, a significant economic and scientific hub in Japan.

At this seminar, the Hanoi Promotion Agency and the association of Vietnamese trade and investment promotion enterprises in Kyushu signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to intensify trade and investment promotion activities between Hanoi and the Kyushu region. Additionally, an MoU was signed between the Me Linh district People’s Committee and the Japanese Language Institute (GAG) focusing on Japanese language training and developing high-quality human resources.

From November 10-12, the 2023 Vietnam – Hanoi Festival in Fukuoka celebrated the 50th founding anniversary of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic ties and 15 years of Hanoi-Fukuoka friendship.
