Hanoi – The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) and the Vietnam-France Friendship and Cooperation Association commemorated the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-France diplomatic relations with a special ceremony on November 27, 2023. This event marked a significant milestone in the longstanding relationship between the two nations.
According to Vietnam News Agency, the governments and people of Vietnam and France have consistently valued and nurtured their bilateral relations across various fields and levels over the years. Son emphasized that people-to-people exchanges, alongside the Party’s and State’s foreign affairs activities, have significantly contributed to enhancing mutual understanding, fostering diverse and effective cooperation in all areas, and establishing a solid foundation for the development of bilateral relations.
Nguyen Thuy Anh, President of the Vietnam-France Friendship and Cooperation Association, highlighted France’s role as not only Vietnam’s foremost economic and trade partner in Europe and the largest European donor but also as a country with which Vietnam has enjoyed the most dynamic people-to-people exchanges. She pointed out that sectors like medicine, education, science, technology, culture, and tourism have been key areas where the people of the two countries have developed strong and cohesive relationships.
French Ambassador to Vietnam Olivier Brochet expressed his appreciation for the VUFO, the Vietnam-France Friendship and Cooperation Association, and other friendship organizations. He lauded their efforts in organizing numerous foreign affairs activities that have helped consolidate and develop the friendship, solidarity, and cooperation between Vietnam and France over the years. Ambassador Brochet affirmed his commitment to support and facilitate the strengthening of people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
The celebration also featured performances of famous French music by Vietnamese artists and students, adding a cultural dimension to the event and showcasing the deep cultural ties between Vietnam and France.
