Heavy Rain to Impact Lower Central, Eastern, and Southern Regions of Thailand

Bangkok: The Meteorological Department has issued a warning regarding heavy rain expected in certain areas of Thailand’s lower central, eastern, and southern regions, including Bangkok and its vicinity.

According to Thai News Agency, the department’s 24-hour weather forecast highlights the influence of a monsoon trough affecting these areas, along with the southwest monsoon prevailing over the Andaman Sea, the lower southern region, and the Gulf of Thailand.

Residents in these regions are advised to remain vigilant due to potential hazards associated with heavy rainfall. For those in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand, sea waves are anticipated to reach approximately 1 meter in height, with the potential to exceed 2 meters in areas experiencing thunderstorms. Mariners are urged to exercise caution and avoid navigating through storm-affected zones.

The forecast for Thailand from 6:00 AM today to 6:00 AM tomorrow details varied weather conditions across different regions. In the northern region, thunderstorms are expected to occur in 20% of the area, primarily affecting provinces such as Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, Phichit, Phitsanulok, and Phetchabun. Meanwhile, the northeastern region is expected to see thunderstorms in 40% of its area, impacting provinces including Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, and Maha Sarakham, among others.

The central region is forecasted to experience thunderstorms covering 60% of the area, with heavy rain predicted in specific locales like Suphan Buri and Kanchanaburi. In the eastern region, thunderstorms are expected in 70% of the area, with heavy rain impacting provinces such as Nakhon Nayok and Prachinburi.

For the southern region, both the east and west coasts are likely to experience thunderstorms in 60% of their respective areas, with heavy rain forecasted for provinces like Trang and Satun on the west coast, and areas such as Phetchaburi and Songkhla on the east coast. In Bangkok and its surrounding areas, there is a 70% chance of thunderstorms with heavy rain expected in some areas.
