Ho Chi Minh City – Nguyen Ho Hai, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, welcomed Hidebrando Cuhuanca Segovia, Secretary of the Peruvian Communist Party (PCP) Central Committee in charge of foreign affairs, on November 17. The visit signifies a step towards strengthening cooperation between the two communist parties and their respective countries, and between Peru’s localities and Ho Chi Minh City.
According to Vietnam News Agency, Vietnam and Peru, despite the geographical distance, have considerable potential to develop cooperation in fields like tourism and culture preservation. He expressed Ho Chi Minh City’s eagerness to collaborate with the PCP and the people of Peru, emphasizing the importance of maintaining strong ties and solidarity between the two parties and nations. This collaboration is particularly focused on educating younger generations about the shared history and solidarity between the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the PCP.
Segovia, in his remarks, acknowledged the PCP’s admiration for Vietnam’s achievements in its struggle for national liberation and reunification, and its ongoing efforts in national construction and development. He reaffirmed the PCP’s commitment to preserving the traditional friendship with the CPV and the Vietnamese people, as well as with Ho Chi Minh City’s administration and populace. He also expressed hope for a visit by Ho Chi Minh City’s leaders to Peru next year, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Peru and Vietnam.
