Bangkok: Despite the Government Lottery Office’s new initiative inviting Thai citizens to purchase the last three digits of lottery tickets through a Sandbox testing system, vendors in Bangkok’s Huai Khwang area are reportedly unable to access the sales platform. The issue persisted throughout the launch day, with no customer transactions recorded for the newly available lottery digits.
According to Thai News Agency, the Government Lottery Office today launched a pilot project allowing the public to buy the last three digits of lottery tickets for 80 baht each. This initiative, conducted at 647 designated sales points nationwide, marks the first time such an offer has been made. The project, which uses the Paotang app for transactions, aims to assess the impact on traditional six-digit lottery sales and gather data over a six-month period before fully implementing the system in April 2025.
During a visit to the Huai Khwang area, it was observed that the Wiraphon Lottery Shop, along with other vendors in the
vicinity, faced technical difficulties accessing the Government Lottery Office system. This prevented any sales of the last three digits on the first day of the initiative. Local vendors expressed a need for better communication and information from the lottery office to understand and efficiently implement the new sales process.
Additionally, vendors highlighted an unusual occurrence with the last two digits of the previous day’s lottery drawing, which were “00.” This result, uncommon in typical lottery draws, led to a surplus of unsold tickets, inadvertently benefiting the vendors who then won the prize for these unsold tickets. This incident has introduced a new dynamic in the local lottery ticket market, where leftover tickets can unexpectedly turn into wins for vendors.
