Huean Chan, a minimalist cafe that caters to art lovers

Take a trip to a cafe in Maha Sarakham Province. Use an old house from your great-grandfather’s era, with an ancient Chan tree, open as a minimalist-style cafe and an art studio, allowing customers to create works based on their imagination.

Complete in one place. Cafe lovers and art lovers must not miss this shop called Huean Chan Cafe (Huean Chan comes from the nearly 100-year-old Chan tree in front of the house). It is located on Nakhon Sawan Road, Soi 4/3, in the Maha Sarakham Municipality. The owner is Khun Namthip, 24 years old, who graduated in business administration and has been working in Bangkok for some time. She wanted to come back home to take care of her father and mother, who are getting older every day. So she consulted with her older sister, who graduated in art, and they decided to open a cafe together in this house.

The highlight of the shop is that it took an old house from the time of my great-grandfather and transformed it by my father, who worked in construction. He transformed the
house with 3 rooms and renovated 1 room into a cafe located on top of the house. There is a spiral staircase leading up to the 2nd floor, following the trunk of a Chan tree that is about 100 years old, the origin of the name Huen Chan. When you walk up, you will find a balcony on the upper floor with tables under the shade of the Chan tree. Inside is a compact shop with a cool, comfortable atmosphere that is not chaotic.

Downstairs is an art room, which was originally my sister’s art studio, but is now open for customers to use for activities such as painted sculptures and canvas frames as desired. The renovation of the house uses the original wood and structure, so the cost is not high.

As for the snacks and drinks, the prices are not expensive. Coffee starts at 35 baht, homemade cakes start at 30 baht. There is a breakfast menu, snacks, games to play to train the brain, and a beautiful photo corner, which has been well received. The income is almost 2,000 baht per day. The two siblings do it themselves. I
n addition, the older sister also sells pictures of her own work. The shop opens from 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Closed every Sunday. For inquiries, call 094-3751469.
