Husband and Wife Shocked as Ex-Brother-In-Law Turns House Into Garbage Dump

Sikao: A husband and wife were left in disbelief after discovering their property in Village No. 1, Bo Hin Subdistrict, had been transformed into a massive garbage dump by their ex-brother-in-law, resulting in uninhabitable conditions. The couple is now urging him to return and clean up the premises.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Benjawan and Mr. Wichote, the homeowners, took reporters and community leaders to inspect the dismal state of their house. The property is cluttered with discarded items, including electrical appliances, furniture, clothing, and plastics, stretching from the front yard to the bathroom. The overwhelming stench has rendered the area unsuitable for living and has attracted teenagers who reportedly engage in drug use on the premises.

Ms. Benchawan recounted that the house initially belonged to her older sister and her sister’s husband. Eight years ago, as the house faced foreclosure, she redeemed it and transferred ownership to her name while allowing the couple to continue living there. Her sister passed away two years ago, leaving the brother-in-law to reside alone. He later developed severe diabetes, resulting in an amputation, which limited his mobility. Ms. Benchawan noted that he frequently ordered items online, but she did not pay attention to the accumulating clutter.

A year ago, the situation escalated as the house became overwhelmed with garbage, and evidence emerged of drug-addicted teenagers frequenting the property. Despite her requests for the brother-in-law to vacate, he refused. Seven months ago, his health deteriorated further, prompting his son to care for him, after which contact was lost. Ms. Benchawan expressed her frustration at the unresolved issue, as she has been unable to reach him to reclaim the property.

She also conveyed her concern about the potential for her brother-in-law to claim ownership due to adverse possession, as he has occupied the residence for over a decade. Ms. Benchawan is appealing for intervention from relevant agencies and her brother-in-law to address the situation. Her primary desire is to regain possession of her house and have him remove his belongings.
