Phitsanulok, ‘Army Region 3 Commander’ punishes military personnel with 45 days of imprisonment and no bonuses for punishing military conscripts of the 37th Military Region excessively, and orders the transfer of the commander of the 3rd Military Region Training Unit, pending consideration of punishment.
Lt. Gen. Prasan Saengsirirak, commander of the Third Army, gave a press conference at Somdej Phra Naresuan Maharat Camp in Mueang District, Phitsanulok Province, regarding the investigation results into the incident in which soldiers in the 37th Military Circle (37th Military Circle) in Chiang Rai Province were punished excessively. The Third Army Region has urgently ordered the unit to set up a fact-finding committee in the case.
At present, the Third Army Region has received the investigation report as follows: The incident in which a soldier was punished occurred on July 26, 2024, when a non-commissioned officer who was on duty for the day punished a conscript soldier excessively, including ordering him
to remove all of his clothing, which was not a punishment in accordance with military tradition. In this case, the conscript soldier reported to the commander of the training unit that he had been punished in a manner that was not in accordance with Army regulations, and on August 5, 2024, he ordered the non-commissioned officer to temporarily stop guard duty and appointed a fact-finding committee.
From the above incidents, it is considered as an excessive punishment of personnel that clearly violates military discipline and is a neglect of the order of the commander who has assigned him to supervise personnel in the unit to be orderly and fair.
“The unit considered punishing the non-commissioned officer by imprisoning him in a military prison for 45 days and withholding his bonus.”
For the commander of the training unit, the 3rd Army Area, an order was issued to help out at the 3rd Army Area to proceed with the investigation and consider punishment. At the same time, the commander of the army region was o
rdered to go and take care of the affected conscripts and confirmed that justice would be served to the fullest extent.
The Third Army has given importance to and supervised the military units in the incident. In addition to having to follow strict discipline, they must also use their commanding skills and take care of their subordinates to ensure order. They have also given orders to commanders at all levels to prevent incidents of this nature from happening again.
