Imprisonment of the brutal gunman who shot and killed his girlfriend

Dozens of police officers protect ‘the brutal gunman’ after he refused to reenact his confession before being sent to the Saraburi Provincial Court for detention.

Progress in the case of Mr. Thakoon, District Chief of Sangkha, Surin Province, who was ordered to transfer to work in Mueang District, Surin Province, from the case of assaulting Ms. Kanya, 41, his ex-girlfriend, until her ribs were broken and she was seriously injured. There is CCTV footage as evidence and a report has been filed. It was also in the news on July 11. Then, Mr. Thakoon chatted to trick his girlfriend into going to Saraburi Province and shot her to death in the car. The incident occurred on the afternoon of August 19.

Today (21 August), Wang Muang Police Station, Saraburi Province brought Mr. Thakoon in for additional questioning, together with a lawyer from Saraburi Province. It took more than 2 hours to complete before sending the suspect to the Saraburi Provincial Court for detention. Mr. Thakoon refused to reenact the crime sc
ene according to his confession, amidst a large number of media outlets waiting to report the news. More than 10 police officers had to provide security. The suspect did not show any reaction, his face expressionless, but gave a short answer to reporters’ questions, saying that he was threatened by the deceased.

Pol. Col. Chaturong Somsri, Superintendent of Wang Muang Police Station, revealed that the suspect confessed to all charges. He was charged with ‘intentional murder, carrying and shooting a gun’ and objected to bail because he had a previous problem in Surin Province. The main problem came from trying to persuade the victim to withdraw the complaint and stop complaining to the commanding officer. After the incident at the police station, the suspect walked to surrender to the police in normal condition.

After Mr. Thakoon was reported for assaulting Ms. Kanya last month, he was ordered by his employer to work for official duties in Mueang Surin District before committing the tragic incident.
