Jakarta (ANTARA) – Tourism and Creative Economy Minister, Sandiaga Uno, is sanguine about the prospect of Indonesia to host Miss Universe contest with its beautiful places such as Bali and Borobudur.
“Especially at night with the background of Borobudur or Prambanan, it is really cool, or in Bali with Kecak dance,” Uno said during a talkshow with Miss Universe Indonesia 2019 Frederika Alexis Cull, through Instagram Live, here on Sunday.
The beauty of Borobudur and Prambanan temples have been exposed in some events, such as jazz festival to Mariah Carey’s concert.
Referring to the country’s success to host several international events such as the Asian Games, Uno expressed optimism that Indonesia could host an international beauty pageant.
“Why not? I would like to see it happening, of course through cooperation with business world and educational institutions to create a colossal collaboration,” he highlighted.
He noted that such international events held in Indonesia would help bolster the tourism sector and creative economy. He took the example of Jember District in East Java that is well-known for its Jember Fashion Carnival.
“Event driven activities would help boost the tourism,” he remarked.
Popular music events held in Prambanan Temple in Yogyakarta and in Mount Bromo in East Java would drive the tourism in the regions.
A sport event, like World Superbike (WSBK), would also trigger tourism and creative economy in Mandalika, West Nusa Tenggara. The WSBK will be held on November 12-14, 2021 with 24 international athletes to take part. It will be a preliminary event prior to the prestigious international championship, MotoGP, on March 2022.
Currently, the construction of the circuit is still ongoing. Visitors will not only be able to see the sport events, but also enjoy the magnificent beach, mountains, and tourist villages there.
