Indonesia recorded 4,922 new positive COVID-19 cases on Saturday, with Jakarta clocking the highest daily cases at 2,324, according to the Health Ministry.
West Java came in second place with 994 cases and Banten in third place with 511 cases, the ministry said in a press statement here on Saturday.
East Java occupied the fourth place with 418 cases and Central Java occupied the fifth place with 148 cases.
A total of 15 provinces recorded the daily counts of less than 10 COVID-19 cases and two provinces saw no addition of COVID-19 cases, The two provinces are Gorontalo and West Sulawesi.
The ministry said 4,302 patients recovered from the disease , with the highest recovery rate recorded in Jakarta at 2,258.
This was followed by West Java with 617, Banten with 408, East Java with 364, and Bali with 143.
The number of people succumbing to the infection increased by 22.
On the national scale, the number of active cases rose by 598 to touch 52,607.
Coordinator of the Expert Team of the COVID-19 Handling Task Force Wiku Adisasmito urged regions which still see the high number of COVID-19 cases to boost third dose or booster vaccination coverage.
“I have tirelessly urged regional governments which have not reached booster vaccination coverage target of 30 percent (to increase the third dose vaccination coverage),” he said.
