Lopburi: The Commander-in-Chief of the Central Investigation Bureau has initiated an investigation into the relatives of a monk at Wat Phra Bat Nam Phu, focusing on their unusual wealth. The inquiry aims to uncover any irregularities related to the financial activities surrounding the temple.
According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Lt. Gen. Jiraphop Phuridet, Commander of the Central Investigation Bureau, has directed an investigative team to look into allegations involving the relatives of monks at Wat Phra Bat Nam Phu. These individuals are reportedly wealthy, raising suspicion about the source of their assets. Additionally, the case of Dr. B, accused of misusing temple funds, is under scrutiny.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Jiraphop revealed that the renowned fortune teller Mor B is accused of opening an account in the name of Wat Phra Bat Nam Phu but allegedly misusing the funds or failing to send complete donations to the temple. Division 1 of the Crime Suppression Division has been tasked with thoroughly investigating the complaint. So far, significant progress has been made, with over 10 individuals, including the complainant and those involved with the donations, being interviewed.
Another pressing matter under investigation is the alleged corruption in donations to the temple and the spending of these funds within Wat Phra Bat Nam Phu. Details regarding this issue are currently being examined.
In response to rumors about a temple using nominees to purchase land and a sports field in Lopburi Province under the guise of a foundation, the matter is still being investigated. A public report had earlier indicated that a relative of a monk at the temple was unusually wealthy, yet the source of the assets remains unclear. The Central Investigation Bureau Commissioner has ordered a thorough investigation into this case.
